September 17th release recommendations

Reds:

Chateau Fayan 2008                                                                                                                              #243295     $18.95

If you like merlots you will love this one. Being from the St Emilion region of Bordeaux you can expect flavours typical of the merlot of this region. You will find aromas of chocolate, berries and cherry a little smoke and sweet red peppers. This merlot id dry but fruity on the palate with medium tannins and gentle acidity for balance. Try is with rare to medium rare grilled lamb chops or game meats.

Red Lane 2009                                                                                                                                           #242560   $18.95

A lovely pinot noir from Oregon is a great way to enjoy a great “burgundy style” pinot noir without having to pay their prices. Earthy notes on the nose with plum, cherry, clove, cinnamon toast, and a little smoke. Medium bodied, with spicy fruit coupled with bright acidity and fine, slightly chewy tannins. Mouth-coating, medium-long finish. Enjoy veal tenderloin or beef brisket or sipping it on its own

Arrocal 2008 (Spanish)                                                                                                                               #67868  $16.95
A very good value wine. This will be bought up by those of us who love Spanish reds. This is the best vintage of Arrocal since the fine 2005. It is 100% tempranillo aged for 8 months in French and American oak before bottling without filtration.  Sweet aromas of cedar, spices, leather, and black fruits. This temprinillo is a big red for a good price. Wine Advocate 90 points

WHITES:
Mount Riley Sauvignon Blanc 2010                                                                                                   #981670  $15.95

A zingy sauvignon blanc from my favorite region for this grape. No secrets it here. If you like NZ sauvignon blancs, you will love this one as well, and the price is great. Sip on its own or with sea food in a cream sauce….. I know I will.

Eric Louis Sancerre 2009                                                                                                                           #223826  $22.95

Although slightly over my $20 limit I think it’s worth the $3 and so are you. Especially if you have not tried a Sancerre from the Loire. You will find aromas of citrus fruit, hay and herbs as well as minerality (think wet stone). Dry and medium bodied, with a nice acidity and fruit on the palate. A crisp finish and delicious. Will pair well with herbed fish dishes or with grilled prawns. (M&M’s herbed or garlic shrimp on the BBQ)

Terra D’alter reserve white (Portugal) 2010                                                                                       #219212  $13.95

An intriguing blend of two local grapes (90% viognier and 10% Arinto) has created a white with aromas of sweet spices, marmalade and apple apple. A dry white with flavours of those same ones found on the nose. A great wine for sipping, or enjoy it with mildly spiced seafood dishes.
